AirPower is no longer set to be released. We through we were so close to seeing it when Apple announced new devices in 2017. It was a magical time where we had the potential to charge our iPhone, Watch, and not yet released wireless AirPods. Hopes rose to the highest levels this past week when Apple released a missing piece with the wireless AirPods.
Today those all came crashing down as TechCrunch reports:
“After much effort, we’ve concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project. We apologize to those customers who were looking forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward,” said Dan Riccio, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering in an emailed statement today.
Seems the fight against heat was to much to solve on such a tiny space. Also the compacting of multiple coils causes interference for other devices had to be solved as well. Apple cannot even defeat physics with its engineering.
We thought it was coming, but it looks like it never will.
Rest In Peace AirPower. We never even got to know you.
