Jam Chart Assistant - iOS Shortcut
Jam Chart Assistant is a handy tool that lets you save audio clips for easy referencing in your notes.
Here’s how it works: Just record a screen capture while playing the section of the song you want to remember. Then, run this Shortcut afterwards to extract the audio. You can then save notes about the artist, date, venue, song, and your thoughts with audio on to be saved in Notes. You can also do this through recording live audio as well! A great way to keep highlights of the night.
The audio is saved in your iCloud Drive so you can reshare it anytime. The saved audio is stored in the Files app
If I make any changes, I will upload them here.
I never claim to be a programmer. Everything I did here was over a weekend of trial and error in the Shortcuts app. Often I wanted to share a song section for group chat discussion on it, but I was unsure of the best way. I searched for audio clip sharing Shortcuts without much luck. So, I patched together my own. 😅
Advice:
-
Create individual notes for each band to keep information organized. I advise creating at least one you plan on keeping track of.
-
Add the screen recording widget to Control Center for easy access.
-
This is a great way to share song segments among friends.
-
Easily keep reference points for easy future recall.
-
Clips saved to Jam Chart Assistant can be used in projects (Please be responsible when reusing them.) Currently, sharing audio on social directly is difficult. I use SoundCloud to upload them to link out with in posts.
-
You can add Jam Chart Assistant to your Home Screen for quick access.
-
Running setup more than once can create duplicate folders. (I’m unsure how to have it not repeat after the first time.)
